Lotzorai
It is situated along the eastern coast on the plain territory, it is characterised by the beauty of its nearly 4.5km of uninterrupted sandy beaches, like the beach of Is Orrosas, Iscrixedda, Polu and Tancau bordered by Santa Maria Navarrese. From its beaches the Isle of Ogliastra is clearly visible, which in the past, served as a safe haven for boats with problems or in difficulty; on its highest point there is a sculpture made by Pinuccio Sciola that represents the Madonna of Ogliastra. The isle is home to colonies of gulls, cormorants and other living birds. Lotzorai is located at just 8km from the port of Arbatax and the airport of Tortolì and 3km from the tourist port of Santa Maria Navarrese. The centre of the village is at around 2km from the shoreline while the suburb of Tancau is situated right on the shore. It is possible to visit the archaeological sites of Domus de Janas (fairy's home) and Castello Medusa. You can also find a small marketplace and public services such as a bank, chemist and post office.
