Excursions in Sardinia can be participated in for most of the year; although there is some snow on Mount Gennargentu, it is only in brief periods and never sufficient to cause difficulty during an excursion.
Ideal periods: spring for the abundance of fresh water and the spectacular blooming of the vegetation; also Autumn for the natural environment.
Equipment: strong walking boots, long, thick socks to protect the legs from sharp undergrowth, rucksack with plenty of drinking water, and light jacket or mackintosh.
Remember: never undertake an excursion alone, as many routes are not signposted.
Duration: 1 ¼ descending, 1 ½ climbing
Difficulty: easy; at least sturdy trainers are recommended
Points of interest: nature, landscape
Leaving from the plain of Golgo, of volcanic origin, reached by following the signposts from Baunei. The pathway is one of the few that can be followed without the aid of a guide as it is well-maintained with signposts. The starting point is a resting point with secure parking. From here, the excursion begins with a brief ascent followed by a long descent that leads directly to the beautiful beach of Cala Goloritzè, recently included in the Marine Park. You can admire the lush vegetation, limestone formations, and ilex forests, and it is possible that you will encounter some wild goats or boar along the way but they are harmless.
Upon arrival at the cove, to the right you can see one of the highest cliffs in Europe; "Punta Caroddi", frequented by rock-climbers and for alpine sports. It is better to embark on the return journey in the late afternoon during high season due to the heat, and remember that there is a steep climb awaiting you!!!

Difficulty: medium, at least sturdy trainers are recommended
Points of interest: nature and landscape
Duration: 3 hours approximately of easy trekking
Departing from the plain of Golgo (Baunei), you follow the signposts for Cala Goloritzè for a good part of the way, although, with the help of a guide, at a certain point, there is a deviation to follow. Along the way, you can admire the lush Mediterranean vegetation, old olive groves, and wild animals. For a certain distance, the pathway follows the Salvaggio Blu route through mountains and past the seas of the Gulf of Orosei. The path crosses the "Serra e Lattone", where you can see a particularly eroded rock formation. From here begins the descent towards the Gulf and the cove Cala Mariolu also known as "Ispuligi de Nie". The colour of the sand is breathtaking; we recommend the excursion be undertaken during the spring to avoid the heat of summer. The return journey can be carried out by land or by boat, organised beforehand.
*Excursions also departing from the plains of Golgo for:
Pedra Longa: cliffs at a height of 123m can also be seen via boat. You can reach the small beach nearby.
Punta Giradili: an excursion of medium difficulty that takes you to see a peak of 732m overlooking the Gulf.
Punta Salinas: a panoramic point overlooking the Cala Goloritzè cove from a height of 400m
Cala Biriola: a beautiful little tropical cove surrounded by one of the largest ilex forests on the coast. A medium - difficult excursion of around 2 hours with return by boat, if pre-organised.
